Dukes Forever, pt. 8

by: Essy Jane

At the Boar’s Nest, there were two gals in wedding dresses waiting for their grooms to show up. Bo was pacing back and forth. Nancy walked over to his and put a hand on his shoulder. Bo pulled it off. He looked into his wife’s eyes. “Something’s wrong, I can feel it,” Bo told Nancy.

“Why would they be late for their own wedding…especially this late? They’re not going to show up are they?” Nancy asked.

“You know, Jess wouldn’t miss this day for anything in the world.”

“I know, that’s what’s bugging me. My son wants to get married.”

“Yeah, he does. He’s loved Laurel forever and now wants to show everyone just how much.” Bo snapped his fingers. “Look, you and the girls keep the crowd busy. Get Laurel and Paige to do some of their dances that they love to do so much. I’m taking Essy, Jo and Lilly-Rose. We’re goanna look for the boys.”

“Alright, we’ll work on it. What do you think is going on, Bo?”

“I don’t know but I’m goanna find out.”

Over in Tennessee, the boys had just woken up. They were both tied to chairs. Peggy and Tamara went to their sides almost immediately. Jose and Jesse were not impressed. They wanted to be at their wedding.

“Good morning beautiful, Pa said that we can get married as soon as possible,” Tamara told Jesse.

“Oh, lucky me,” Jesse said sarcastically. He stared at Jose who was getting kissed by Peggy. His eyes were closed tight.

“You see Jess, we’s goanna make great wives for y’all. We’s cook fer ya and we’s clean fer ya.”

“The only one he wants to marry is Laurel and the only one I want is Paige!” Jose exclaimed.

“You know, one day you’ll learn to love us,” Peggy commented.

“You don’t get it do you? I want to get married. I love my fiancée and I want to be with her for the rest of my life.”

“See Jose, you’re ready to get married,” Jesse commented.

“Yeah, I was having gitter bugs I suppose. I do though, I love Paige with all my heart and I want to be with her. I guess I just thought I wouldn’t be a good husband.”

“You’ll not only be a good husband but also a good father.”

“You think so?”

“I know so…Jesse will be as well,” Tamara commented. Jose rolled his eyes.

“My cousin and I were trying to have a private moment!”

Back over by The General Lee, Bo and Essy stood beside it. Bo picked up a pair of keys—the General’s keys. “Boy, they didn’t get too far,” Bo mumbled.

Essy picked up a purple hat. She slapped it on her hands. “Bo, they’re not goanna make it to the wedding,” Essy said. Bo walked over towards Essy. He grabbed the hat and shook his head.

“This is May-Anne’s hat.”

“Which means those boys are over there…don’t you remember how infatuated Milo was with Daisy?”

“Uh huh, that’s what I’m afraid of too.” Bo grabbed the CB receiver in The General Lee. “This is Shepard Calling General Lee two are you there Manic Mechanic, come on?”

“This is Manic mechanic come back,” Lilly-Rose said.

“Hey, Beaudries left their mark by the General. Them Boys are already in Tennessee by now.”

“Shepard this is Jo Peep calling,” Jo Anna said over the CB.

“Go ahead Jo Peep.”

“Now the only way to get there on time is to fly come back.”

“I can still handle a plane, do y’all remember how?”

“Shepard, I think it is a good idea if you and I man planes. Essy and Lilly go in their cars.”

“No, only one car…we’re goanna need something to get back in. I’m goanna drive on over there as fast as I can in General one. Essy’s goanna go over in Uncle Sam. Y’all be careful alright?”

“10-4 Shepard.”

Back the Boar’s Nest, Luke was totally confused. He walked over to Nancy-Lou. “Hey, we’re seeing dance numbers from the brides but where is my son?” Luke asked.

“Uh…” Nancy-Lou began.

“What?”

“Bo, Jo, Essy and Lilly-Rose are on the case.”

“Bo left me out of the fun?”

“He figured if things got really bad he would call you in.” Luke shook his head.

“Where are they?”

“Beaudry’s residence but Luke…”

“Shot gun wedding, isn’t that great? Milo learned a little too much from his Daddy. I should…”

“Luke, we already have one father of the groom gone. We need you here.”

“But…”

“No buts.”

“Alright Nancy but this is unfair.”

“Bo and the gang will handle it. You need to help with guest control. Besides, this is Bo’s last real adventure before they push him into an office.” Luke smiled.

“Yeah, you’re right.”

Meanwhile, over head…something appeared in the shadows. Very mysterious…it’s a bird, no it’s superman. Nah, it’s Dukes in planes from the Hazzard plane show. These planes had been restored from world war one. Bo just happened to be friends with the owners. Jo was up in one and Bo in the other. They both had head sets on to keep in contact.

On the ground, Lilly-Rose and Essy were filling up the gap. They flew over touch terrain. “Essy, have you ever gone against the Beaudries before?” Lilly-Rose asked.

“Sure, plenty of times. I know their terrains just fine.”

“Good, I’m glad I’m not driving.”

“There was one time, the Beaudry gals were trying to sell their stuff to Boss Roscoe. Now when he said no, they kidnapped him.”

“Man, Boss sure gets himself in a lot of trouble.”

“You better believe it.”

“So what happened?”

“Bo and I had to go and get old Roscoe back.”

“Why you two?”

“Well because, Destiny his wife, threatened to keep Judd in jail until we did.”

“Typical.”

“Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, Luke was there in a plane. This time we got double the advantage in the air. Bo and Jo have their dynamite,” Essy answered Lilly.

“No one messes with the Dukes.”

“That’s right.” Essy and Lilly shook hands and nodded their heads. Both laughed.

“YEE HAW!”

“We’ll beat them good won’t we Lilly?”

“Oh yeah, we’re going to kick them all the way to California…let Bo and Mom deal with them.” Essy laughed and Lilly winked.

“You’re quite the kid.”

“Thank you very much.”

“You’re welcome.” Lilly grabbed a bag by her feet. She opened it up. “A bible?”

“Yeah, I carry it with me for comfort.”

“I see.” Essy’s eyes widened. She smiled. “What? You have that look in your eyes that Jesse always gets.”

“You’re goanna do some driving after all.”

“What do you mean?”

“Just call it a revelation.”

“Uh Essy…”

“Trust me Lilly, this is goanna be fun.”

Back over deep in Beaudry territory, Jesse and Jose were thinking of ways to escape. When the girls were getting ready for their wedding, the boys noticed the fire that was only a few feet away from them. Since their chairs were tied together, it would be interesting to try. Jose and Jesse managed to get their feet untied. They both stood up and walked over to the fire pit.

Jose kicked his shoes off. Now you want to know what Jose did for the talent show last year. He organized toy cars with his feet. Picking them up with his feet and putting them on the table. So when the boys wanted to burn through their ropes, they had something to go by.

Jose ripped off his sock. He grabbed onto one of the smaller twigs on the ground and stuck it in the fire. He crossed his leg over and passed the twig to Jesse. Jesse burned through the ropes quickly. “You’re good,” Jesse whispered. Jose put his sock and shoe back on.

“No you’re good, you didn’t burn the tuxes…we paid 85$ to rent these suckers,” Jose reminded Jesse. They stood up and began running. They didn’t care where they were, anywhere was better than here. As they ran, they both hit something. As they looked up, there was Milo and his son.

“Looks like I caught two grooms trying to run away from my daughters. Boy, grab the dark fella,” Milo said. Jesse shook his head.

“We were so close,” Jesse mumbled.

“The preacher will be here in a half an hour.”

“Can’t you understand we don’t wanna get married?” Jose asked.

“My daughters sure do so I don’t care what you think.”

“Oh come on Mr. Beaudry, you know that it would be a great experience for your gals to find their own men and not steal them.”

“Well they tried, now you’re here.”

“Yeah we are but we want to go home.”

“You know, I have tried hard to give my daughters their heart’s desire.”

“That’s very kind of you.”

“They want to get married. So get ready to get married.” Jesse stomped on Jose’s foot.

“OW! What was that for?”

“For walking into a trap, man alive.” Milo and his son picked up the two boys and dragged them back to their place.

Over at the preacher’s place, five men had just arrived with shot guns in their hands. They knocked on the door and saw a stranger, in pastor’s clothes, standing before them. “Who are you? Where’s Pastor Joe?” One of them asked.

“Pastor Joe had an emergency wedding. I was called in straight from the missionary to take his place. I am Pastor Dave,” The preacher said.

“Good to know ya. Now, let’s get over there before we loose our pay. He grabbed his bible and got into the large truck. Okay now keep watching because I am sure if you go for your milk and cookies, you’ll be lost.
