Lex

By Hilery “Scoot” Davenport

The sun shined brightly through the window of a very light blue bedroom. The curtains created shadows on the wall as the sunlight slowly made its way across the room as the sun rose, until it finally landed on the face of a sleeping girl, no older than 15 years old. Quietly she sighed, and then stretched. The girl could smell the scent of eggs and bacon coming up to her nose from downstairs. It made her mouth water as she slowly climbed out of her bed. The first thing she did was went into her closet and got a pink flannel shirt, and then a pair of blue jeans from her dresser. Soon as she was dressed, she sat down at her vanity, and began to brush her long ash blonde hair. Then she put it up in a pony tail.

“Knock, knock,” her mother called as she opened her adopted daughter’s bedroom door. “You awake yet Lexy?”

“Yeah Mamma, I’m about ready to put my boots on now,” she said and smiled at her. “What’s for breakfast?” She asked it knowingly, just for the heck of it.

“You’re favorite,” she replied. “So hurry it up and get downstairs so you can eat before you do your chores. Don’t forget you do have school today.” Lexy nodded as she watched her mother leave the room. She was glad that she had been adopted by them instead of some mean couple when she was a baby. Lexy didn’t blame her birth parents for giving her up. She didn’t know the circumstances, and she was sure they had had a very good reason for doing what they did.

The Lucky Star

Set during the Civil War, the Coltrane women must endure the hardship of the Confederate home front while Rosco and the rest of the men in Hazzard head off to fight. (I’m heavily indebted to Lisa Philbrick for the use of the MaryAnne Coltrane character and to Cuz Bonita for starting the idea of settling the Dukes of Hazzard universe slightly back in time… LOL. Thank you ladies !!!)

Silence Speaks a Thousand Words, ch. 14

“Do it” Lex rasped, looking into the eyes of the man on the other side of the bed.

“Luke … don’t …” Daisy pleaded, trying to suck air into her tired lungs.

Lex smiled. “So you’re the cousin who walks on water, huh?”

Luke’s gaze remained on Lex, his aim remained ready.

Lex licked his parched lips. The pain in his side was almost overwhelming, yet he wouldn’t give into it. Not yet. He tried to stand straighter, to appear unaffected by the mountain of a man in front of him.

“Luke” Daisy whispered, looking intently at his cousin. “Please, don’t do anything stupid”

“Stupid” Lex sneered. “He already shot me!”

Daisy ignored him and focused on Luke. He hadn’t moved an inch since firing the gun. No emotion showed on his face, his eyes stayed on Lex, unblinking. Daisy had never seen Luke so intense, despite him being a fairly serious man. It worried her.

“Go on” Lex goaded Luke. “Finish it. I know you’d rather see me dead than in prison”

When Generals Attack

By: Hilery “Scoot” Davenport and Essy-Jane

Times were interesting all over the place but not as interesting as they would have been in this time frame in this most peculiar place. A place where not everything was as it seemed. You see, it all started in a regular place in a not so regular day, Hazzard County was a mystical place known for its adventures and troubles. This day wasn’t any different.

The road was bringing forth a new adventure that would change the Duke’s lives. Who are the Dukes you ask? Well you’ll have to follow me on this adventure. Well, the Dukes are a family that has been in Hazzard for several generations. A family of ex-moonshiners. That’s right, ex-moonshiners.

Ya see, Bo and Luke Duke, cousins, one blue eyed blond, one blue eyed brunet, and were caught several years ago running illegal homemade corned whiskey. Their family had been making the potent liquor since fifty years before the Declaration of Independence had been signed. The skill was passed from generation to generation. Jesse Duke had made sure all his kids knew how to brew it.

Silence Speaks a Thousand Words, ch. 13

by: MacSas

The night was cold and quiet. Luke slept in a chair beside Daisy’s bed.

Martin had discovered, upon his return with lunch, that Luke was as angry as Daisy had thought he’d be. Clark had arrived with the diary and gone through it with Daisy’s help, finally deciding on an entry about a politician that done some under the table business with Lex, using taxpayers money of course. He’d also bought drugs from Lex three times a week, but most damning of all was the fact that the politician had used government funds to avail himself of Lex’s high-class call girls. Daisy had noted everything down. Dates, times, places, drug types, even the names of the call girls and the money it cost the politician. She had also made note of a conversation the politician had had with Lex when he felt that Lex had cheated him on a drug purchase. The politician had told Lex that he had plenty of  ‘dirt’ on Lex and was prepared to use it if he was cheated again. After all, the politician reasoned, who wouldn’t believe him? He was a well-respected family man, a shinning pillar of his community and most important, in the running for the presidency.

All of which made this information gold to Clark. There was no way Lex would let this diary go if he knew this was in it.

With Luke still at Daisy’s side, Martin decided to join in on the meeting at the Commissioners office to discuss plans for the diary.

Therefore, he wasn’t in the area when another visitor arrived at the room of Daisy Duke.
