The World Without the Dukes of Hazzard.

Dukes of Hazzrd fanfic.comAbout a year ago, the Dukes of Hazzard came under fire for its flagrant use of the rebel flag, which in the show, depicted nothing more than Southern spirit.

Dukes reruns were pulled off the air, and Dukes merchandise disappeared from store shelves.

A wave of political correctness swept clean this bastion of good ol’ boy Americana, despite it never meanin’ no harm.

A year later, the Great Southern Purge has rendered the nation in no better shape. The political and social forces of the country are more violent, divisive and polarizing than they were before.

The “love thy neighbor” message of the Dukes of Hazzard is sorely needed today. More than ever.

And so, after a long hiatus, we’ve turned the lights back on, unfurled our rebel flag, and cracked open a fresh beer. Our politically-incorrect asses are back in the chairs. We now resume our mission: to promote and preserve the Dukes of Hazzard. We hope to make people smile along the way.

Stay tuned for memories, memes and the usual random nonsense. Oh, and by the way…Yeeehaaaa!

Dukes of Hazzard Fanfic.com website revamps

CooterWDukesYou might have noticed that we’re running  a little sluggish lately. Not just us, the website! Ya see, we have the happy problem of getting more traffic than expected. It’s bogging down our cheap, crappy hosting service.

This means that out site “stalls out” once in awhile and takes too long to load. If that happens, please refresh the page and it should pop right up.

In the meantime, we are working on a permanent solution to this problem. Namely, upgrading our hosting service and connecting all the dots to it. Since we are not technical wizards, this should provide vast amusement for our competition. But being dense has never stopped us before, and it won’t now! We’ll be running better than ever in the near future. We thank you for your patience!

And don’t forget, the Dukes of Hazzard is being aired weekdays on CMT! Check your local listings for air times and episodes!

Crazy Cooter is Still Fightin’ the System – Ben Jones Blasts “Party Down South”

BenJonesCooterIf there’s one thing that Ben “Cooter” Jones can’t stand, it’s somebody messin’ with The Dukes of Hazzard. This time, it’s CMT’s “Party Down South” commercials that have drawn the ire of Hazzard County’s finest mechanic and staunchest supporter.

The so-called reality TV series “Party Down South” has been heavily promoted during the Dukes of Hazzard broadcasts on CMT. So heavily, in fact, that we find it pure irony that CMT takes 15 minutes away from one show in order to promote another. How about ya’ll air one show at a time and leave it at that? But the real complaint isn’t the time, it’s the smutty content being promoted during a family TV show.

Ben Jones has always been very protective of the Dukes of Hazzard, as we detailed in a post on our “cousin” website, DukesofHazzardCounty.com. And so it comes as no surprise that ol’ Cooter is once again sounding the Dixie horn, rallying fans to the cause. He asks ya’ll to head on over to CMT’s facebook page and post your objections to “Party Down South” commercials airing during the Dukes.

Some fans have expressed concern about Ben’s latest round of campaigning, wondering if it’s wise to complain to CMT since they only recently brought the Dukes of Hazzard back on the air. Are we biting the hand that feeds us? Or, in showing that we give a damn, are we preserving the nature of what the Dukes are all about?

We see it like this. Since the Dukes of Hazzard is a pretty much a clean show, and is mostly being aired during family viewing hours, it stands to reason that CMT should air commercials that speak to a family audience. That’s Marketing 101.

But CMT seems desperate to promote Party Down South. Flat-out desperate. Maybe because it’s likely to fail, and they don’t want anyone to say that it wasn’t because they didn’t promote it enough? In 35 years, will anybody be talking about Party Down South?

We sincerely doubt it. Long Live the Dukes of Hazzard!

The Dukes of Hazzard in HD is Nice, But…..

BonLukeDukes of Hazzard fans are making their opinions known, good and bad, about CMT’s airing of the Dukes of Hazzard. After hearing comments ourselves, and listening to Hazzard County on social media, we’re summarizing the accolades and bellyaches here!

1. Dukes of Hazzard fans are thrilled the show is back on the air. Yeehaa!

2. The show looks good in HD. The General Lee looks awesome. It also sounds awesome!

3. If only the episodes weren’t being so chopped up for commercials! It’s worse than ever, and HD doesn’t begin to make up for the missing scenes. Fan inquiries to CMT were responded with: “This is how it is. Suck it up.” And we thought there were a lot of commercials in the prior runs? Yowch.

4. Dukes of Hazzard fans are already sick of CMT’s “Party Down South” commercials. The trashy clips are alienating parents who were excited to have their kids watch the Dukes on TV. When you need to have your 4-year old look away during the commercials, it’s sad. The whole point of having the Dukes of Hazzard on TV, is that it’s a safe haven for family viewing.

5. We checked the Facebook pages for CMT’s “The Dukes Ride Again” vs. CMT’s “Party Down South”…and sadly, Party Down South had more page Likes. But CMT previously ignored their Dukes page for months at a time, and only now is scrambling to post regular content.

6. Our own Facebook page is cooler than either of those. Like it, you’ll love it!

7. While fans are enjoying the Dukes of Hazzard being on TV again, there’s some worry about the heavy rotation. Odd thing to complain about, maybe, but we have to wonder if CMT is just using the Dukes to pimp their other crappy programming for the February sweeps. We hope not.

But don’t just take other people’s opinions for your own – check it out for yourself! Visit the Dukes schedule on CMT for viewing times and episode lineup. Then share your own impressions with us on the Forums!
